- Unusual Factors: This project had to be completed in two days so that Anytime Fitness in Dawsonville, Georgia could re-open for their customers. Even though this was a short time frame Southern States Refinishing was up to the challenge, as usual and able to complete staining and dying the concrete floors on time. Another difficulty was disposing of the old tiles. Our team got a real work out doing this. After filling garbage bags with the old broken up tile, we carried them to the dump in the back of the building. We had to be very careful so that the tile would not break through the bag.
Getting a Work Out at Anytime Fitness

Step 1: First, we chipped at the tile with a demo hammer, removing all the old outdated ceramic tile. Once all the tile got placed in bags the real work out began. Their were 50 bags that we filled with broken up tile. Each weighed about 60 pounds each and our team carried them to the dumpster in the back of the building. We didn’t need any gym equipment after that full body workout.
Step 2: Southern States Refinishing wasn’t done with their work out yet. Next, the floor needed to be ground flat and prepared for the dye. We started with 16 grit diamonds to remove all the tile mastic. After that, we had the chance to utilize our 50 grit diamonds to smooth the floor. Finally, we finished with a copper 100 grit diamond to hone the floor. The concrete floor and our work out at Anytime Fitness in Dawsonville was halfway complete.
Step 3: After masking the area, stain and dye was applied in several coats. Giving the client in Dawsonville the appearance they needed to match other Anytime Fitness locations.
Step 4: Lastly, once the dye dried we applied one coat of lithium densifier and 3 coats of sealer. This step provides a long lasting and beautiful stained concrete floor in Dawsonville, Georgia.
